Meet the Team – Abigail Morrison

We have an amazing team here at Hibberts, and we want to share a little about our colleagues in our new ‘Meet the Team’ feature. Our first team member in the series is Abigail Morrison, who works as a conveyancer in the residential property team.

For the last 12 months Abigail has worked in our Tarporley office alongside her mentor and supervisor Claire Dobson, who heads up the residential property team.  Abigail has benefited from the extensive knowledge and experience that Claire has been able to share with her while Abigail has been completing her practical work for her qualification. This support has helped Abigail in her journey and professional progression as a licensed conveyancer, and she is  now eagerly awaiting her exam results. Her training and development has entailed the full conduct of files from the start of the transaction through to completion, including post-completion registration. She deals mainly with the sales and purchases of freehold and leasehold properties, but also handles remortgages.

Abigail’s background has always been in business, with the completion of her Business and Management BA Hons Degree. As part of her qualification, she covered aspects of the Legal System, which excited her, and it was at this point she realised Law was her passion and the route she wanted to take for her career.

After completing her degree, Abigail then completed her LLM CPE Master in Law, graduating in 2017. She then worked within the Ministry of Justice, but after having two children, she decided to get back into Law. Her Masters Degree covered a range of legal areas, including Land Law, Equity and Trust, Contract Law and The English Legal System and this enabled her to enrol on a Level 6 Conveyancing Law and Practice course.

Abigail has now completed the course and was awarded her Level 6 in the Conveyancing Law and Practice module. As part of the qualification, Abigail also took Managing Accounts and Landlord and Tennant modules, for which she is awaiting her final result so that she can apply for her Licence to practice as a CLC Lawyer. Abigail has now moved to the Nantwich office as a fee earner in her own right.

We asked Abigail to share what she finds rewarding and motivating about her role, “As my background is Business Management and I have a vast amount of experience in customer service-based roles, I really enjoy offering the client a very communicative service to keep them updated. By being proactive, I make sure that the client is at ease throughout the transaction and confident in the service I am delivering. I enjoy taking as much stress out of the process for the client, so they can be assured their matter is being dealt with as efficiently as possible. Ultimately, I am motivated to achieve the highest level of client satisfaction I can”.

Outside of work, Abigail is really proud of raising her two young boys, aged four and three, whilst working full-time and studying, all at the same time! She spends most of her time (apart from when she is studying) with her husband and children, as well as the two family Guinea Pigs that her children absolutely adore. With all the after-school clubs, swimming lessons, rugby and other activities associated with a young family, there is little time for anything else!

To finish, we asked Abigail to share her idea of a perfect day – apart from working at Hibberts, of course! Here’s what she said, “I love Christmas – that’s my favourite time of year! My perfect day would definitely be a walk in the snow with a few snowmen being made! Then heading home into the warm for a nice hot chocolate…with marshmallows and cream, of course!”

We think that’s pretty perfect too, Abigail!
